U.S. volumes up, Chinese tonnage drops In the United States, the compound feed industry experienced "a perfect storm" of positive circumstances in 2015, bringing its compound feed production to 166,015 MMT. "Meanwhile, China had the opposite situation: pigs dropped in inventory and market price; poultry was affected by the egg market; aquaculture was way down; and likely dairy was too," Best reports. "As a result, Chinese feed sales have continued to languish." For this reason, the WFP reports that the United States is in fact the top feed-producing country over the People's Republic of China. Contary to China's offical figures, which state that the country manufactered 191 MMT, market conditions suggest production was actually an estimated 150,510 MMT. Will China rebound in 2015? Time will tell.
