Novus International Inc. has launched a
new version of their global web site, www.
novusint.com. The site is designed as a con-
tent-rich, database-driven, web environment
with market-specific technical and product
information. “When you visit a particular
species page on our new site, the content
is entirely geared towards that specific busi-
ness unit within Novus,” explained Tricia Beal,
director of global communications. “This
allows our current and future customers to
quickly search the site for content relevant to
their particular industry.” Through a complete
rebuild of the former static Novus Web site,
the content within the new site is driven from
a central database. This allows the site to
be infinitely and quickly scalable for future
growth. Most importantly, say company
spokespersons, up-to-date, relevant content
is delivered based on user interest. Users may
currently view technical resources pertaining
to Novus’s products and species, a video on

flash driven timeline and hundreds of beef,
pork, poultry, dairy, and fish recipes. Another
unique feature of the site is descriptive
Novus program information listing valuable
programs offered to current, potential and
future customers by species. The next major
phases of development include the incorpo-
ration of different languages. The first phase
of language additions will include: Mandarin
Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and
German. Plans are also in motion to include
real-time industry newsfeeds and wiki’s.

As part of its commitment to fur-
thering scientific education, Alltech
presented its Young Scientist Award to
Craig Louder as part of Alltech’s 24th
International Animal Health and Nutrition
Symposium on April 22 in Lexington,
Kentucky. A student at Utah State
University, Louder submitted a scientific
paper on “The Estrogenic Mycotoxin
Zearalenone and its Importance in
Livestock Production,” to win the award
and a $5,000 scholarship. “The pre-
sentation of the Alltech Young Scientist
Award has become one of the highlights
of our annual Symposium in just a few
short years,” said Dr. Pearse Lyons,
president and founder of Alltech. “At
a time when we need the brightest
young minds in the world to engage
in scientific study, it’s truly an honor to
present such a deserving young man
with this prestigious award.” Each stu-
dent who entered the competition was
required to submit a scientific paper of
3,000-3,500 words on an issue relat-
ing to natural solutions to animal health
challenges. Out of the 727 entries in
2008, one representative from each
region of the world was selected to
present their research at Alltech’s 24th
International Animal Health and Nutrition
Symposium. The competition, currently
in its third year, provides a forum for
undergraduate students throughout the
world to interact with one of the lead-
ing players in the animal feed industry
while strengthening their research skills.
The 2008 program drew 727 entries
from over 80 distinguished universities
around the world, more than doubling
